Parachute cord (also paracord or 550 cord when referring to type-III paracord) is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes. This cord is now used as a general purpose utility cord.
The braided sheath is usually made up of 32 interwoven strands, giving it a relatively smooth texture. By nylon or polyester.
Nowdays most of these products on the market today are braided from nylon and polyester.

Types of Paracord

v Paracord has all kinds of thicknesses, colors and patterns. The "Type" is based on the different thicknesses or with the corresponding breaking strength (in pounds). [1kg≈2.21lb]

v The most popular used "Paracord Type III" is also called "550 Paracord" because the breaking strength is 550 lbs. (≈249 kg). In the same time not only Type III, but also Type II is widely used for more elegant knotwork too ,but 'Type I' and 'Micro' are often used as an accessory cord.

v Nowdays "Milspec Paracord" is used for Paracord it’s very suitable for knotwork in outdoor sports,such as camping or braided some DIY crafts.
